The luxury of silk lingerie is well known. This particular Stretch Silk Satin is gorgeous! It is lightweight, liquid, and has about a 10% stretch across the grain which gives it a longer life in those challenging applications like bra cups and undies. I would use it on the cup and the frame of a bra, but would still use powernet in the back band. I would use it as a part of undies, but not for all of undies. I would use a stretchy fabric like Microlycra, Microlycra Air, Glimmer Knit or Stretch Mesh on the back side. In general, I would line it with Sheer Cup Lining to help encase the seams and add a bit of strength. The addition of Lycra to this woven fabric helps the seams to stay intact, but you'll still want to give it all the help you can so that you don't shorten the life of your garment. Clothing will slip right over it as though it wasn't even there.
We don't dye this fabric, we purchase it already dyed. We'll do our best to give you good coordinating colors for the silk so that you can match your other fabrics and findings to it. We have worked hard to get a color that matches in natural light for the majority of our silks, but at this time Peony and Electric Blue are still evading us. Azalea and River are our closest matches for now. These colors both look very striking with an otherwise-all-black set, too! Please note that if you are ordering items separately that you want to match- Latte Silk is currently matching closer to Oyster, Frosted Petals silk is currently closer to Ballet, Merlot goes beautifully with Cranberry silk and Scarlet is our best match for Fire Red silk.
Stretch Silk Satin, like all our fabrics, is sold by the half-yard, and is 42" wide.
