Bra Bee 2022 Sew Along- Under the Arbor Cap Sleeve Bra

Please note - Asmaa will demonstrate this bra with the Josey for larger sizes and the Black Beauty for smaller sizes. This kit will work with both patterns. A Strap elastic version will also be presented and can be made with this kit.

If you're on Instagram, you've seen all the gorgeous cap sleeve bras that Asmaa from @sewsurgical_endeavours has made. I asked her why she likes this style so much. I was expecting her to say something about how cute it is, but instead she talked about how comfortable it is. There is absolutely no shoulder pressure! Asmaa brings all her expertise as a breast surgeon to combine several methods for distributing the load of supporting the breasts, which is how she creates such a comfortable bra. This bra is the perfect union of comfortable support and beauty! Of course, you might want to wear your bra under a sleeveless garment, so the sew along will also cover techniques for achieving the same result without a cap sleeve. Finally, the longline really shows off the silk and the lace but longlines aren't suitable for every person. She's also covering the same techniques for a regular band bra, so you have all the options! For techniques, Asmaa will show how to marry any bra pattern with the Emily pattern from Michelle's Armoire to get the ability to do the cap sleeve (or sleeveless) styling, which is what makes this bra so comfortable. She'll show you how to adapt your pattern for a longline if this is your choice. She'll show you how to make those darling covered buttons without needing those covered button forms. These flat covered buttons are perfect for lingerie! Finally, she'll cover some of her lace techniques. She always gets a gorgeous result!

If you prefer to have your bra sleeveless, Asmaa will also be showing how to use the same techniques to get a beautiful conventional bra with a partial lace, partial strap elastic strap and no cap sleeve. You can also use this kit to make your own favorite bra pattern. It's a beautiful kit!

Please note that larger band sizes will require a bit more fabric for the back band of the bra. If your bra band is 38 or larger, opt for the band fabric upgrade. This will provide you with enough length for your back band.

You can use your choice of bra patterns for this project. Asmaa will be demonstrating with two bra base patterns, the Black Beauty by Emerald Erin for the smaller size and the Josey Bra by La Bella Coppia for the larger size. Both patterns will incorporate the back of the Emily Bra by Michelle's Armoire. 

We're coordinating all our fabrics and kits for the bamboo and silk sew alongs so that you can create a mix-and-match wardrobe of loveliness. You can choose any fabrics and accent color, and we've put together this convenient table so that you know which things work together the best. All the silk colors work beautifully with the Under the Arbor lace. We recommend the silk for this project, but you are welcome to request your kit with any of our standard cup fabrics.
